Day Care Makes For Happy Hounds
Dogs have a stimulating environment when their owners drop them off

PLYMOUTH — Dogs finally have their own resort in downtown Plymouth thanks to business owners Nancy Janoch and Jim Thompson.
The partners recently created Happy Hounds Dog Day Care, which held an Aug. 15 grand opening at its Main Street location.
At the facility, dogs will experience a stimulating social environment while their owners are away, Janoch said.
Happy Hounds includes splash pools, toys and an outdoor playset. Dogs are only allowed to stay between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday to Friday.
“In today’s lifestyle where everyone’s busy, the dog often gets left home,” Janoch said.
Janoch, 52, owned an in-home pet sitting business in Cleveland for six years. She’s raised nine dogs in her lifetime.
Since Happy Hounds has opened, Janoch has noticed mostly young couples and older empty-nesters taking advantage of the service.
“It’s those kind of people that tend to really pamper their pets,” Janoch said.
To have a dog eligible to stay at Happy Hounds, it’s owner must fill out a personality profile application for their pet.
They also must agree to have their dog’s temperment tested at Happy Hounds by the business’ staff members.
